I found myself having a full-on pity-party last night. I desire something, something great, but it's just not happening the way I want it to or as quick as I would like. I found myself feeling sorry for myself and wondering why God hasn't blessed me with this "thing" yet. Well, in my self-absorption and pity I was miserable...of course. God woke me up bright and early at 4:30 this morning, he sure has a way of doing that when he means business about something! I started to unload all my frustrations, hurts, etc about this "thing" I've been desiring. I turned on my ipod and began to play my music and up popped the song "Blessed Be Your Name." Oh my, this is exactly what I needed to put my heart in the right place. It's amazing how praising Jesus during struggles, disappointment, pain, etc can change my whole perspective. The words of the song read:
"Blessed Be Your Name
In the land that is plentiful
Where Your streams of abundance flow
Blessed be Your name
Blessed be Your name
When I'm found in the desert place
Though I walk through the wilderness
Blessed be Your name
Every blessing Your pour out
I'll turn back to praise
When the darkenss closes in, Lord
Still I will say
Blessed be the name of the Lord
Blessed be your name
Blessed be the name of the Lord
Blessed be Your glorious name
Blessed be your name
When the sun's shining down on me
When the world's all as it should be
Blessed be Your name
Blessed be Your name
On the road marked with suffering
Though there's pain in the offering
Blessed be your name
Every blessing You pour out
I'll turn back to praise
Whe the darkness closes in, Lord
Still I will say
Blessed be the name of the Lord
Blessed be Your name
Blessed be the name of the Lord
Blessed be Your glorious name
You give and take away
You give and take away
My heart will choose to say
Lord blessed be Your name"
This is my lifesong. So humbling.
I'll be praying for you. Let me know if you need to talk at all. And that song is hands down my favorite song of all time. Hands down.
ReplyDeleteI think my favorite line in that whole song is "my heart will CHOOSE to say, Lord blessed be Your name"...praising Him over pitying myself is always a choice--and rarely an easy or fun one--but so worth it! Love you Kangaroo Kat :) praying for you!
