Jemma came down with RSV a few weeks ago and an ear infection. What looked like a cold for a few days, while we were in Bolivar, turned out to be the respiratory virus RSV. We noticed that it was affecting her breathing when we were driving back from Bolivar and her breaths seemed really labored and she was really uncomfortable. We went straight to Granmommy's, Clay's mom's, house to check her out since she's a nurse. Jemma was so lethargic, which is not ever normal for her, and she was breathing 44 breaths per minute, which is fast for a little one. Instead of waiting it out until Monday, we just took her into the ER. They diagnosed her with RSV, gave her breathing treatments and a popsicle and we were out the doors within a few hours. We gave her breathing treatments every 6 hours, which worked like magic! However, it made her pretty wired.
The first few nights she cried almost all night in bed with us, it was so sad to see her in so much pain. At our follow up visit with her doctors a few days later they found the ear infection. The ear infection was rough. She was fighting 103 fevers, which reached 103.6 at one time, and was uncomfortable even with Tylenol and Motrin. On top of it all I got sick as well. Apparently adults can catch RSV, it's just not as serious. Well, this was Jemma's first time being really sick, other than the typical cold. I didn't take much pictures at all since this isn't one of those times you want to remember real well.
Uncle Justin even came to the ER to help Jemma feel better.
She was a champ and tolerated the breathing treatments well!
GiGi even came down for a few days to help out and it was much needed. We ate really well while she was here as always!
